Even when crew are on probation if they become pregnant they have to be kept on,so if they become pregnant in January, they average her pay for the 3 months previous,and pay them that. They basically just work in the office for the next few months doing odd jobs and helping with paper work.
I did see the discussion about it on the website. This is what happens. I could tell you some horror stories all the same John!
Mark Gray a former European base manager, came to our base and gave a big long winded speech about people getting pregnant and so on. A probationary crew member became pregnant and didn't know about it,had a miscarriage during one of her flights, took a week off sick,and was marched to Dublin for a "welfare" meeting, got sacked in the end! Another girl had an abortion, but back to Mark Gray,our base supervisor rang him, and unknown to him at the time, he didn't know I was listening, he called and said quote on quote "I have some good news for you,she got rid of IT"...That is  the kind of management at Ryanair!
People don't know the true extent of the cost put on probationary cabin crew.

Ryanair Holdings Plc Europe's biggest discount carrier, agreed to boost the average salary of its cabin crew and some pilots, replacing pay deals due to expire next month.

Flight attendants will get an average 10 percent increase over four years and a guaranteed “home every night” roster, Dublin-based Ryanair said in a statement today.

Under a separate agreement, Ryanair pilots based in Alicante, Spain, Cork and Shannon in Ireland and working out of Bristol, Luton and East Midlands airports in the U.K. will get pay increases of as much as 10 percent over the next five years. The pilots at these bases, as well those located in Manchester, England and Valencia, Spain, also negotiated a five-day working schedule, followed by four days off, the airline said.

“At a time when high-fare airlines around Europe are cutting jobs and slashing pay and benefits, Ryanair will continue to offer stability, job security” and promotions, spokesman Robin Kiely said in the statement.

Network carriers including Air France (AF) and International Consolidated Airlines Group SA-controlled Iberia are seeking to reduce payroll costs to drive a return to profitability in their short-haul operations. Air France’s main pilot union said March 21 that it would refuse to cooperate with the carrier’s cost- cutting plans.

Firstly,
Boost the average salary of cabin crew and SOME pilots...Why Some pilots ,well up to 80% of pilots at Ryanair are not contracted by Ryanair,third party so called agents employ them which means 80% of Ryanair pilots get no increase in their salary which in so cases are as low as 30,000 euro per year..
Secondly,
Ryanair use so called third party agents Crewlink and Workforce International to recruit and give flying contract out to 80% of cabin crew,these are called probationary cabin crew (who can and will be TERMINATED in large numbers at any time),their salary is as low as 8000 euro per year.
20% of Ryanair's contracted cabin crew get the 10% which if you look at the bloomberg article,one thinks all Ryanair crew will receive this increase.Over the last 5 years probationary Ryanair cabin crew have had their hourly rate of pay cut by 18% and Ryanair have plans to cut even further.
Probationary Ryanair cabin crew are paid as little as 10 euro per hour after tax which is appalling after Ryanair's profit last year reached 500 Million euro. Ryanair say ''guaranteed “home every night” roster, Dublin-based Ryanair said in a statement today''.
 Home every night is no great thing as Ryanair only pay probationary cabin crew(80% of cabin crew) when they fly..If a flight is delayed for any reason for any length of time NO PAY....

RYANAIR PILOT HOMES RAIDED IN GERMANY

The homes of some Ryanair pilots in Germany have been raided by that country's revenue police, according to Ryanair union sources. Personal papers and computers have been seized after the pilots were questioned about their financial affairs for several hours. The pilots were served with court orders as the raids commenced, according to the newly formed Ryanair Pilot Group (RPG).

The German raids followed related activity in Italy where the tax authorities earlier this year raided Bergamot Airport and questioned pilots and cabin crew over allegations of unpaid Italian taxes. According to the Ryanair Pilots Group, some pilots have since received demands of upwards of €40,000 from the Italian revenue. Lower paid cabin crew have also been caught up in the Italian revenue trawl and some of them are facing demands for back taxes and fines dating back to 2006 amounting in some cases to more than €8,000.

The Italian authorities have also launched a legal action against Ryanair in Milan claiming that it owes them €12 million for unpaid employer's social security payments dating back to 2006. A similar action is expected to resume in France after Ryanair obtained an adjournment for legal reasons.

The recent moves are expected to be repeated in other EU countries as legal pressure mounts on Ryanair's claim that, because they work on Irish registered aircraft, its employees are only liable for Irish taxes.

Ryanair's 3,000 pilots and almost 6,000 cabin crew have no choice in the matter as their contract of employment requires that they register with the Irish revenue and social welfare system, even if they are foreign nationals, or work in another country. Critics of the system say that Ryanair profits from paying significantly lower employer social welfare costs in Ireland than it would in most other EU countries.

Last month the British Airline Pilots Association was quoted in The Sunday Times as saying that the Ryanair model of employment has cost the British Exchequer €44 million a year.

Less than one-third of Ryanair pilots are direct employees of the company as upwards of 70% are freetlancers who subcontract with Ryanair contractors Brookfield Aviation and Storm McGinley who in turn operate to a template laid down by Ryanair. The pilots are required to form limited companies with two other pilots whom they may never have met, and to offer their services to one of the two contractors who in turn fill Ryanair's pilot needs.

Freelance pilots are often young men and women whose parents have paid upwards of €90,000 to private flying schools for their training and whose only hope of immediate employment in aviation was to enter the Ryanair/Brookfield/Storm McGinley system. In many cases they paid additional five figure sums for further training with Ryanair.

The overwhelming majority of pilots have been tax and social welfare compliant in Ireland, according to an RPG spokesman. In addition to revenue levies in Italy, freelance pilots may also face further legal action because their limited companies, although compliant with Irish law, have not met all Italian legal requirements.

Asked to comment Ryanair replied that it “does not comment on rumour or speculation”. This is a common response from the airline.

“It appears clear from this morning’s meeting, that no matter what remedies Ryanair offered, we were not going to get a fair hearing and were going to be prohibited regardless of competition rules.

Given Ryanair’s remedies package clearly addresses every issue raised in the EU’s Statement of Objections, any decision to prohibit would be manifestly unfair and in contravention of EU competition rules. Ryanair has no alternative but to appeal any prohibition decision and we expect to get a fair hearing at the European Courts, as we haven’t received one from Commissioner Almunia and his case team. This decision is clearly a political one to meet the narrow, vested interests of the Irish Government and is not based on competition law.”

The Probationary Ryanair Cabin Crew Contract is a SCAM and young people need to be aware that Ryanair's motto ''LIVE THE HIGH LIFE'' is simply a Lie.

Ryanair ''Scum'' say they will never get a fair hearing over their Aer Lingus bid which is yet one more Lie.

Ryanair have have their own way for to many years now and let us hope people are starting to see the damage Ryanair are doing with their false Pilot jobs and cabin crew jobs for young people.

Ryanair's Michael O'Leary continues to cry like a baby,throwing a rattle from his pram,stating other airlines are more favored when the real reason being Ryanair's 60% TERMINATION rate of new recruited cabin crew all paying up to 3000 euro to train plus under 10 euro a hour flight pay leads to exploitation.Other airlines have issues regarding employment but Ryanair have the lowest salary and highest termination rate of Probationary cabin crew in Europe.

I am writing to you today regarding Ryanair Holdings Limited who are registered as an Irish company.

The European Commission are aware of the bid by Ryanair Holdings Limited for Aer Lingus.

I will not pretend to understand the full process which is involved with this bid but feel employment issues regarding Ryanair should be brought to the attention of the DG Competition.

In 2004 David Bonderman from TPG became chairman of Ryanair Holdings Limited and introduced agency probationary contracts which involved Cabin Crew.

I must inform you that TPG (   http://www.tpg.com/ ) are involved with bidding for Stansted Airport in the UK.

Ryanair have two types of contracts for cabin crew that work on their aircraft.

One being a Ryanair contract cabin crew which totals 20% of the cabin crew workforce. The other being a probationary contract which is 80% of the cabin crew workforce which is given out by a so called third party providers,Crewlink Ireland Limited (http://www.crewlink.ie/) and Workforce International (http://www.workforceintl.com/) which were set up in 2004 the very same time as David Bonderman became chairman at Ryanair.The probationary Ryanair cabin crew contract is what is very concerning and must be looked at.

This probationary Ryanair cabin crew contract is given out by Crewlink and Workforce International after a 6 week Ryanair cabin crew training program is completed at a cost of up to €3,000  for each student.I must point out that Easyjet cabin crew training program has no charge to students.

From 2004 till 2008 in a four year period 8981 probationary Ryanair contracts have been given out by one agent Crewlink Limited (Now Crewlink Ireland Limited) with a average of 2200 for each year from one agent.As for Workforce International i am not sure of their contracts given out.I can confirm Ryanair's Head of Communications  Stephen McNamara did confirm in writing that there was a 30% Termination rate of probationary Ryanair cabin crew in 2010 which is very much  underestimated and could be as high as 60%.

If Ryanair are successful in their bid for Aer Lingus  we will see bigger numbers of young people all over Europe being recruited as Probationary cabin crew by Ryanair for Aer Lingus with a much higher numbers of terminations.

I must point out that the employment practice being delivered by Ryanair management is not only delivering Social Dumping of workers in Europe but wrecking the lives of young people wishing a career in aviation and in some cases have lead to health issues and suicide.

Average number of employees in 2005 being 2,604 staff costs 140,997.Average yearly salary per staff member £54,146

Average number of employees  in 2006 being 3,063 staff costs £171,412,000.Average yearly salary per staff member £55,962

Average number of employees  in 2007 being 3,991 staff costs £226,580,000.Average yearly salary per staff member £56,772

Average number of employees in 2008 being 5,262 staff costs  £285,343,000.Average yearly salary per staff member £54,227

Average number of employees in 2012 being 8,500 staff costs  £415,343,000.Average yearly salary per staff member £48,823

At 2012 pilot numbers at Ryanair are 3000..Average yearly salary of £72,000 =£216,000,000

At 2012 engineers numbers at Ryanair 500..Average yearly salary of £30,000 = 24,000,000

At 2012 office staff numbers at Ryanair 300.. Average yearly salary of  £20,000 = £6,000,000 

At 2012 Ryanair contracted cabin crew numbers at Ryanair 940. Average yearly salary £25,000 = 23,500.000

At 2012 probationary cabin crew at Ryanair numbers 3750 at Ryanair. Average yearly salary £12,000 = 45.120.000

Total staff average cost in 2012 is £324.620.000..There is an over charge of £90,000,000 which is paid to third party agents,who recruit and train crew at Ryanair...Ryanair will lead up to believe that a low cost airline would achieve this high over charge to man their airline.

I put in to the DG COMPETITION that this over charge is a result of a high termination rate of crew and the extra hourly rate so called third party agents receive from Ryanair which shareholders are not aware of.

Ryanairdontcare Campaign founder John Foley attended the Ryanair cabin crew assessment day 28th October 2012 at the Bewleys Hotel Manchester Airport.It was a big recruitment drive by Ryanair through Crewlink who are Ryanair.
Ryanairdontcare Campaign can confirm this assessment day was a total disaster for Ryanair's Michael O'Leary,the reason being,Mr O'Leary continues to inform us that Ryanairdontcare Campaign has NO effect whatsoever on Ryanair's cabin crew recruitment and Ryanairdontcare Campaign is doomed to fail.....4 years on,still strong with many young people wishing a career in aviation are staying away from Ryanair.
Only 30 students attended this big recruitment drive by Ryanair which is still to many.The last assessment day at the very same venue had over 100 students...

Contracts are given by the two sham companies above so that once your terminated no blame legally can be placed at Ryanair's door...

 Ryanair’s work practices in the country has been delayed for several months after the airline changed its legal team.

The trial, which was due to take place in Aix-en-Provence 29th/30th January 2013, has been billed as likely to decide the future of the low cost aviation sector in France by some. France’s La Tribune newspaper said today that if Ryanair loses the case it could cause low cost airlines to abandon bases in the country.

The airline is under formal investigation because of a suspicion that it has employed staff at its Marseilles base on Irish work contracts. It is particularly focussed on the employment contracts of 127 workers.

Ryanair has threatened to close its base in Marseilles if the matter goes before the court. Chief executive Michael O’Leary has previously branded the matter as “stupid”, saying that Ryanair’s aircraft are registered in Ireland and that its employees pay their taxes, social security contributions and pensions here, in accordance with European legislation

It is accused of using clandestine workers, of unlawful employment of air crew, of hindering the establishment of a works committee and a hygiene and safety committee and of obstructing trade unions.

French trade unions have accused Ryanair of “social dumping in relation to employees, and unfair competition”, according to La Tribune.

If found guilty, Ryanair could be hit with a maximum fine of €225,000. But any order to repay missed social security charges would potentially greatly increase the level of compensation faced by the airline.

I am cabin crew for ryanair for 2 and a half years now. The money is disgraceful. they deducted  £300 each month for 10 months when i first started. during the winter you are forced to take unpaid leave and have more standbys than flying days and earn at the lowest £400 and highest about £600  .In summer lowest of about £850 and highest is usually averaged  at £1150 ,please don't work for ryanair r, i can't express that enough to people

People ask that question, why i have stayed, once you've paid for all the training etc, you are then waiting for the contract, and i was next in line for it, so waited my time out. i would have been doing my CSS (cabin service supervisor) training next month (which meant a salary plus flight pay plus commission. overall better money) i wanted this for 6 months/a year for my cv. but we have now had a meeting about reduction of aircraft in Bristol  so they are now transferring half the cabin crew and 7 captains out of Bristol  meaning i will no longer be doing my upgrade to CSS as they won't need any more for this base. Knowing this, i now am looking at other airlines as there is nothing for me here now, and i'm fed up of being fed so many lies and utter crap from the company. 

Ryanair will recruit constantly because they get paid for it, they will keep some crew for 6 months and then sack them. in my base we had too many crew and we were all on standby a lot, but they continue to get new crew as it brings in more money for them. crew are numbers on their screen, so they won't be bothered about getting rid of others, but they usually just keep them on and have everyone on standby
