AS FLEET GROWS FROM 270 TO 305 AIRCRAFT

Ryanair, the world's favourite airline, today (17^th Jan) confirmed that it will create over 1,000 new jobs in 2012 for pilots, cabin crew, engineers and sales/marketing people, as Ryanair's fleet will grow from 270 to 305 aircraft.

Ryanair is not aware of any other Irish company that will create 1,000 new jobs in 2012.  While many of these jobs will be taken up by Irish people, sadly none will be based in Ireland, where a combination of high charges at the Government owned airports, and the Gov's €3 travel tax, means that seat capacity and traffic at the DAA airports will continue to decline, while Ryanair grows rapidly with 5 more bases in Europe, where airports offer considerably lower fees and other EU governments do not tax visitors.  Already in 2012, Ryanair has announced 5 new bases in Billund (Denmark), Wroclaw (Poland), Palma (Spain), Manchester (UK) and Paphos in Cyprus.  Ryanair expects its traffic to grow from 76m passengers in 2011 to 80m in 2012.

I am in contact with you today again regarding a week of action against employment issues at Ryanair Holdings Plc witch will take place from 12^th March to 18^th March 2012.

This week of action will entail, picket’s at all European airports Ryanair do business, recruitment and training facilities, public flying boycott and union's private and business travel will be effected.

This week of action is against Ryanair’s employment, working conditions and Ryanair’s refusal to let employees organise.

We at Ryanairdontcare Campaign feel shareholders and stock markets must be made aware of this action as this may affect share prices from going forward.

I wish to also point out that a press release RNS Number 6993v  on 17^th January 2012 from the London stock market, RNS news service of the creation of 1000 jobs in 2012 by Ryanair Holdings Plc. This press release from Ryanair could be misleading, in fact hundreds of Pilots left Ryanair in 2011 which was not released on a press release from Ryanair.

Also many young probationary cabin crew are continuing to be terminated on a weekly bases. Many more of the above will continue in 2012.

Let us not forget present cabin crew at Ryanair are forced, yes forced to take 2 months unpaid leave in 2012 which is compulsory and staffing levels are deceived.

Let us not be fooled by the spin to gain a increase in share prices.

Ryanair’s projection of fleet growth from 270 to 305 aircraft in 2012 is not a true reflection of the greater numbers of passengers being carried in 2012.Up to 50 aircraft at Ryanair will not be used in 2012 but still Ryanair increase fleet. Buying aircraft from Ryanair’s business taxation, you will find this increase is offset to other companies involving leasing (to which Ryanairdontcare Campaign has details).

Staffing levels of Pilots and aircraft still can be checked with help of Pilot unions.

In our opinion, the trade union leadership should have adopted a far stronger position on the treatment of Ryanair workers by the company. From many reports and documentaries etc it is quite obvious that Ryanair treats their staff with utter contempt and disrespect.
We would however suggest contacting as many unions as possible to garner their support as it is only with a very wide-based campaign that it can have any success/effect. If the unions were behind an initiative like this we be very happy to support it. I hope this clarifies our position and we wish you the very best with your attempt to highlight a worthy cause. I am writing to you today regarding a planned action against Ryanair who you regulate.

Ryanairdontcare Campaign is calling for a week of action against Ryanair.

The action will consist of a boycott and pickets at all European airport Ryanair use and will take place from 12^th March till 18^th March 2012..

As you are aware of many employment issue,’’ to many to mention ‘’ at Ryanair to which the IAA are turning a blind eye to, this action Ryanairdontcare Campaign are calling for will not only send a strong message to Ryanair but also the Irish Aviation Authority…..Dignity & Respect of aviation workers should be compulsory.

I would end this correspondence by asking the IAA employees to boycott flying Ryanair for this week of action but know it will fall on deaf ears.

This is not the first correspondence Ryanairdontcare Campaign has sent to the Civil Aviation Authority regarding Ryanair.

Ryanairdontcare Campaign has called for a week of action against working practises at Ryanair, Recruitment, Employment and Termination of so many young people wishing to become cabin crew.

This week of action will take place from 12^th March till 19^th March 2012 .

We also call on the  CAA employees to be involve in this action by boycotting flying Ryanair.

Respect and Dignity to aviation workers must be compulsory…….

Dear Mr Camron,

This is not the first correspondence I have sent you from Ryanairdontcare Campaign regarding employment issues at Ryanair, to which NO action in any form has taken place to investigate these issues by your office.

I speak to you as a parent who’s daughter ,I believe was exploited, Terminated and left penniless in a foreign land by Ryanair in 2008 for Profit.. This exploitation and Termination has lead to a Campaign ‘’Ryanairdontcare’’which has been active for over three years now, dealing with many issues to which Governments all over Europe ignore. Many young people starting off their adult working life are damaged by Ryanair will Governments and Aviation Authorities turning a blind eye.  

It is sad that even though information I have shows a pattern of Termination of Probationary Cabin Crew at Ryanair for profit, my own Government turns a blind eye. Do not be fooled by high recruitment levels at Ryanair as Termination levels are even higher.

Ryanairdontcare Campaign have called for a week of action against Ryanair which will commence from 12^th March till 18^th March 2012 and would hope a flying boycott would be taken. We also call on Government Ministers to think twice flying Ryanair,the only Airline in Europe to not recognise union membership….

I am also sure Pilot unions Balpa & Ialpa would confirm other important issues that relate to Pilots at Ryanair, which entail  the same Exploitation/Termination practises.

Peaceful Protests are planned  this summer (Olympics) not only by Ryanairdontcare Campaign but by others in aviation.

The week of action against Exploitation at Ryanair is being passed around the internet by bloggers.We feel it is very important for us all to pass the word on regarding this action... A strong message must be sent to Ryanair, in simply terms...
                                               STOP SCAMMING OUR CHILDREN

12-18 March 2012 will see an international week of action against RyanAir, called by Liverpool Solidarity Federation and RyanAirDon’tCare Campaign,

Get involved by:
-boycotting RyanAir (arguably this should be permanent anyway)
-holding actions at airports where RyaniAir fly and at RyanAir head offices
- boycotting the ‘RyanAir chase’ at the Cheltenham races (15th March) O’leary pays 280,000 to sponsor this 6 minute race,
-contact RyanAir to complain about exploitative recruitment process
-spread the word

RyanAir are a prime example of profits before people capitalism, they claim to have the lowest fares, but use links with the press and governments where they operate to cover up the exploitation of the workers, and how they manipulate students in universities to drop out of courses to carry out training provided by RyanAir.

New employees are loaned €3000 for training and up to 200 people a month are sacked after this initial training period, those ‘lucky’ enough to make it through are then on a 12 month probationary period where they receive lower pay and are often dismissed for trivial reasons.

On top of the €3000, new employees also need to pay for uniforms, and I believe they also need to buy equipment (such as the tweezers used to put ice in drinks). Of course the employees are keen to show they are willing to do the job and are excited at the prospect of finding work, so jump on the opportunity to work for RyanAir, this is why it is important to support this week of action, as many people as possible must be made aware of the exploitation which takes place at the hands of RyanAir, not only as a boycott would have direct financial consequences on O’leary and Bonderman, but because by getting the information out there we can inform young people who may have otherwise fell for the recruitment scam.

At times of high unemployment such as now it is also important to note that recruiting in order to terminate is also affecting government statistics, RyanAir employ large numbers of people but also dismiss huge numbers, this allows the government to add to ‘people who found work’ despite the fact that these people were unable to sustain work due to RyanAir terminating contracts.

The RyanAir policy of recruitment for termination is obviously morally wrong, and is bound to have obvious negative effects on the people affected by it, workers at RyanAir also talk of a bullying atmosphere, and how can you possibly feel that you have job security, when missing a phone call when you’re off duty can result in a termination? How can you have a good relationship with colleagues when either of you could be terminated mid-flight and left stranded literally hundreds of miles from home?

Any workers who attempt to tackle and stand against the way things are done find themselves flying all the ‘bad shifts’ or are unfairly dismissed, this is a violation of the human rights of all employees at RyanAir, how can workers organise when the consequences are so obvious, this is why it is important for us, as activists, as friends and families of employees, as previous employees and as the general public need to organise against RyanAir and support not only this week of action, but also boycott RyanAir and educate as many people as possible about the crimes against employees committed in the name of profit.

There have been a number of suicides ‘believed to be’ linked to employment conditions at RyanAir however the media are (as always) incapable of giving any real coverage of this, and countless employees and ex-employees are suffering from stress, depression and other mental health problems as a direct result of employment conditions at RyanAir.

The police, government and media are all failing to bring RyanAir to account for the actions of O’leary and Bonderman in the name of profit, support the week of action, spread the word and obviously BOYCOTT RYAN AIR.
